In December of 1975, (the same month I was born), Paul Simon released one of his biggest hits, "50 Ways to Leave you Lover". It hit number one on the billboard charts in February of the following year. It has been covered many times, in several different languages, including by the Muppets Floyd and Janice. Rowlf the dog apparently thought it was "50 ways to Love you Lever". This was a kid's show, right? See the clip here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xbnE-i2bfQ&feature=PlayList&p=226398D4793A1645&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=60 The covers reached their pinnacle (in my humble opinion) when Glam metal band, Trixter made two versions of this song on their 1994 album, Undercovers. Here is a clip to the unplugged and underrated version: http://new.music.yahoo.com/trixter/tracks/50-ways-to-leave-your-lover-unplugged-version--2545605 Back to the topic at hand. In Colorado there are many ways a person can have their driver's license suspended or revoked. I am going to mention 20 ways, although there are certainly more ways than the twenty listed below. 1. Point suspension (see some other blog entries on how points work) 2. Drunk Driving charges (first offense BAC over .08) 3. Controlled substance violation (see CRS 42-2-127.3)- Note: CHANGE IN STATUTE EFFECTIVE 8-5-09; If your conviction date is 8-5-09 or after, a suspension will no longer be taken. House Bill 09-1266 repealed the suspension. 4. Failing to pay child support 5. Uninsured motorists 6. Financial responsibility 7. Outstanding Judgment or warrant (failing to pay court costs or missing a court appearance) 8. Vehicular Homicide 9. Vehicular Assault 10. Criminally Negligent Homicide (when using a vehicle) 11. Defacing property 12. Criminal Mischief on a vehicle (Juveniles only) 13. Failing to stop and render aid when injuries or death occurs 14. Habitual Traffic Offender 15. Two Drunk Driving convictions within 5 years 16. Three Drunk Driving convictions in a lifetime 17. Being determined to be mentally incompetent 18. Three reckless driving convictions in two years 19. First or second degree perjury regarding ownership of a vehicle 20. Driving on a suspended license (consecutive suspension) If any of these happen to you, you will need to reinstate your license before you are eligible to drive again (legally, that is). Head on over to the Department of Revenue's website at http://www.colorado.gov/cs/Satellite/Revenue-MV/RMV/1218536116688 This page has all information and forms you'll need to get on the road to reinstatement.
